Oscar Wehmanen

Oscar Wehmanen Houston Civic Symphony experience:
Principal Second Violin; former Principal Viola; member, former First violin section

Musical background:
 Began playing violin at age 10, and began tuba and viola in High School.  At St. Olaf College and Purdue, I studied violin, viola, tuba and math.  I have played or sung with Houston Civic Symphony; Rice Campanile Orchestra; Pasadena Band; Clear Lake Orchestra; Galveston Symphony; Exxon Singers and First Universal Unitarian Choir.

What I do the rest of the day:
I do Scientific Programming for companies like Lockheed Electronics (NASA); Exxon Production Research; Shell Research; Community Justice Department; Kelsey Research Foundation.  Oh, and Gold Violin Shop!

You wouldn’t know if I didn’t tell you:
I shook hands with Haile Sellassie while teaching in Ethiopia, played Radio City Music Hall for 7 weeks with the Purdue Band and soloed with the Galveston Symphony (Mozart Symfonia Concertante).
