Lovie Smith-Schenk, well known Houston percussion performer and teacher, has been forced to cancel her performance of Rosauro's Marimba Concert No. 1 with Houston Civic Symphony on May 15.  Her injury is akin to the well known "tennis elbow", and highlights the physical demands of percussion practice and performance.

Houston Civic Symphony regrets the program change at this late date, and wishes Dr. Smith-Schenk a complete and uneventful recovery.

Watch this space for the announcement of replacement soloist(s).
